Monday was a big day for Jordyn Wheeler and four of her closest friends.

The 17-year-old Thorold resident was one of five Niagara Prep basketball players being feted with a signing ceremony at Saint Paul High School where the athletes attend school.

Wheeler has committed to NCAA Division 1 Stanford University in California while Kylie Sooley heads to the University of Massachusetts, Arianna Turla is off to Florida Gulf Coast University, Kaylan Sta. Maria journeys to Rice University and Soreya Yilmaz has signed on the dotted line with Saint Peter’s University.

“I am super excited and it’s great that five of us are signing together. I am going to remember being with all my teammates and all my family,” the six foot guard said.
