Virginia Gates sometimes finds it hard to believe where her rowing career has taken her in such a short amount of time.

The latest milestone for the Grade 12 student at Saint Paul was committing to row at Harvard.

The 17-year-old Niagara Falls native began the recruiting process in the summer of Grade 10 with a bang when she received a bevy of emails from interested schools.

“I talked to a lot of different schools and I met a lot of different coaches and then I went on visits to my top schools.”

She made official visits to Harvard, Princeton and Stanford before choosing Harvard.
